What is HIFU?
HIFU is "High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound" or MRgFUS (MRI-guided focused ultrasound) and FUS (focused ultrasound surgery). The targeted areas of this treatment are face and neck.
How does HIFU work?
High Intensity Ultrasonic waves are concentrated on the dermal layers of the skin and the deeper dermal layers. Heat is created when these waves are made to pass through the skin. This heat arouses a controlled tissue damage resulting in Neo-Collagenosis. The formation of this new collagen results in the firming of erstwhile sagged skin followed by refining the appearance of the impacted part of skin.
Within a month’s time the outcome of the treatment can be seen which lasts a long time. Based on how an individual leads his/her life the result of the HIFU treatment may last from 8 to 12 months or more. The HIFU procedure may consume around 90 minutes to complete.
