CO2 Laser Surgery

CO2 LASER SURGERY:

Co2 ablative laser resurfacing has been the “Gold Standard” for non surgical facial rejuvenation and removal of facial skin wrinkles and photo aging since 1995.

At Cuticare Centre we use Co2 Laser imported from Korea (Seoul) which has three modes of operation namely  Continuous mode, Super-Pulse mode, Ultra-Pulse mode.

The Continuous mode is used for removal of Fibroma, Keloids, Hypertrophic scars.

The Super-Pulse mode for precise removal of unwanted skin growths and skin resurfacing.

The Ultra-Pulse mode for superficial skin removal and skin tightening.

Various conditions treated by Co2 laser are:

Skin Tags (2-5 mm hanging growths over neck, armpits and groins).

DPN (Small brown-black growths over face and neck).

Freckles (Light brown spots on face in Skin type 1-3 …fair skinned patients).

Xanthelasma palpebarum (fat deposits seen over the eyelids).

FRACTIONAL LASER RESURFACING:

At Cuticare Centre we use the advanced Co2 ablative technology imported from Korea. Fractional Technology is created by computer pattern guided laser resurfacing resulting in very precise and controlled skin damage. It assists in deeper skin rejuvenation treating wrinkles and scars with ease and shorter healing time than normal Co2 laser.

Wide range of clinical conditions that can be treated:

• Wrinkles

• Acne Scars

• Traumatic / Accident Scars

• Pregnancy strtch marks

• Post Burn / Surgical Scars

• Skin Tightening.

Co2 Fractional laser has the advantage of addressing the scar from the epidermis and the dermis resulting in a complete overall correction of scar.

HOW DOES IT FEEL DURING THE TREATMENT?

Topical anaesthetic is applied one hour prior to the procedure or injected to numb the area to be treated and makes the procedure relatively painless with slight pricking pain and acceptable.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

The number of treatments necessary depends on the condition being treated, and also whether it is ablative or non ablative procedure. It may take 2-3 sessions of ablative treatments to get desired response.

WHAT SYMPTONS ARE EXPECTED AFTER TREATMENT?

Immediately after the treatment, skin may be mildy reed (erythema) and swollen (Edema). These effects are normal, and indicate a successful treatment. Any swelling typically subsides within a day and most redness dissipates within few days. As redness and swelling subside, a brownish bronzeing effect will become visible. The bronzing will fade over the next few days as new, healthy skin replaces the laser treated tissue. Other side effects may include discharge, crusting or scaling, and milia, these too typically resolve within one week.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED AFTER TREATMENT?

For best results and to prevent complications, all patients should strictly follow their post procedure care protocol. Cool, moist compresses applied immediately post treatment may soothe the treated skin. A neutral, occlusive oint ( Epithelial growth factor ) may be applied twice daily until skin re-epithelializes. Cool packs used after treatment may provide confort, if necessary. Soaking and gentle cleansing may aid exfoliation as new tissue replaces old tissue. For two weeks following treatment, avoiding sun exposure is important.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE BEING ABLE TO USE MAKEUP, GO TO WORK, EXERCISE, ETC.?

For fractional ablative treatments, depending upon the level of treatment provided, patients may be able to apply make-up and resume their normal schedule and activities within four days.
